The BCWS was started in 2021 as an eight-team, double-elimination tournament with two brackets.

The tournament games pit the NCAA Division II HBCU bracket champion and the NAIA HBCU bracket champion.

Bracket championship play starts Friday, May 9, 2025, as the final two teams advance to a single championship game to determine the BCWS national champion.

After the double-elimination bracket play finishes, the Black College World Series championship game will begin on Saturday, May 10.

Where is the Black College World Series?

The Black College World Series games will take place at Rockabillys Stadium in Jackson, Tennessee.

The championship series has been staged in Montgomery, Alabama every year since 2021. Games were hosted at Riverwalk Stadium from 2021 to 2024 before moving to Rockabillys Stadium in 2025.

How does the Black College World Series bracket work?

Once the eight teams are determined, they are placed in two different four-team brackets – the NCAA D II Bracket and the NAIA Bracket.

Each team then plays the three other teams in its bracket. Once a team loses twice, they are eliminated.

The teams that emerge – one from each bracket – then face off in a one-game final, with the winner crowned Black College World Series national champions.
